The big difference between an All risks photographic policy and a specified perils policy is that with All risks, you are protected from ANY loss, damage or destruction, unless it’s been specifically excluded. This is in contrast to a traditional specified perils policy, in which your equipment is only covered for the specified risks stated, for example fire, theft or flood. With that traditional policy, if your claim doesn’t fall into a specified peril you won’t be covered.
An all risks policy tends to offer broader cover than a specified risks policy and it is relatively easy for clients to avoid situations where their equipment may not be covered as they can simply refer to the list of exclusions in the policy wording.
A big advantage of an All risks policy for photographer clients, is that having an All risks policy means your equipment is covered in your studio, at home and anywhere in the world, unless it’s otherwise stated. This gives clients the freedom to travel overseas safe in the knowledge that their equipment will be covered.
To give you an idea of some of the items an All risks policy may cover, it includes;
Photographic Equipment, Props, Set, Wardrobe, Laptops, mobile phones and all associated communication technology.
We also include Employer’s and Public Liability cover in our All risks photographic policy to ensure that our clients are covered for injury or damage they are found to be legally liable for.
Examples of exclusions under an all risks policy may be theft of unattended equipment unless involving violent and / or forcible entry, damage arising from mechanical breakdown or structural defect and unexplained physical loss or mysterious disappearance.
